Great places in Britain, where anyone can go for a dose of history, culture and fun

When it comes to deciding where to spend your holiday, or where to go for the weekend, you should never feel limited. We have selected some great places in Britain, where anyone can go for a dose of history, culture and fun.

1. Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow

Experience Scotland’s finest Art Gallery through its numerous events and exhibitions.

With no entry fee, this 116 year old gallery is a representation of natural history, Scottish history and archaeology. That's pretty great value. With 22 themed galleries there is something for everyone.

Besides wheelchair access, most of the staff are BSL qualified and presentations are audio-visual with subtitles.

Nearest Station: Patrick or Charing Cross

2. Cadbury World, Birmingham

Enjoy a fantastic day out at this Willy Wonker-esque location where you can choose from a variety of things to do. Enjoy learning about chocolate making and packing, to having a cheeky hot chocolate after a 4D screening of the Chocolate Adventure.

There are loads of great events happening throughout October. Including the much loved Sooty’s Birthday Bake Off, which is on from 7th until the 8th of October, baking cake has never been sweeter!

High standards of accessibility are maintained at the attraction, so all you need to do is get your Railcard and plan your visit.

Nearest Station: Bournville

3. Chester Zoo

Get up close to over 15,000 animals and 500 different species at the UK's most visited zoo, which puts conservation at the heart of everything it does. Chester Zoo is home to exotic and endangered animals and the venue has also just launched guided tours to help every explorer have the best experience.

The zoo is a fully accessible visitor attraction and offers multi-sensory experiences too. You can prepare in advance with the online interactive map, which allows you to discover our catering facilities, picnic areas and accessible toilets before you arrive.

4. Knole Park, Kent

Home to sika and fallow deer, this 1,000-acre deer park boasts an unmanaged landscape that gives visitors the opportunity to get up close to nature. Venture to the edges of the park for the best view of the famous seven oaks, gather the whole family together for a woodland walk or see a selection of the best spots on a pushchair and wheelchair-friendly tour.

Keep an eye out for ant hills amongst the tress on the Chestnut Walk or head up to the park’s highest point, Echo Mount. Here you’ll see deer and maybe even the occasional deer fight during rutting season. If you’re feeling peckish, the family-friendly onsite café serves snacks, ice cream, drinks and hot and cold meals. The closest station, Sevenoaks, is within walking distance at just over a mile away.
