1. If you're planning a longer journey it could well be worth booking your ticket well in advance - it might save you even more money.
2. Avoid the stress and crush of rush hour and travel off-peak. You’ll also save money.
3. If you plan to spend the day in London, your Senior Railcard discount also applies to tickets which include the London Off-Peak Day Travelcard (All Zones only). So now you can travel on the Underground and buses for less.
4. For longer train journeys, most train companies give you the option to reserve a seat. They'll also offer you assistance if you need it.
5. For those with a hankering for the sea, there are many discounts to be had on through rail and sea journeys. Visit the Isle of Wight on Wightlink and Red Funnel Ferries, Irish Ferries and Stena Line.
6. You can also enjoy a Railcard discount on bus travel by combining your train and bus tickets. PlusBus and participating bus operators give you unlimited bus travel from the rail station of your departure or arrival. Visit www.plusbus.info or ask at your local staffed rail station for further details.
