1. Will I get a reminder when my Railcard is about to expire?

 If we hold a valid email address or postal address for you, we will send you a reminder.


2. Where can I renew my Railcard?

If you have previously purchased your Railcard online simply go to Renew your Railcard and follow the onscreen instructions.

If you have previously purchased your Railcard at a train station you will need to complete the online purchase process as though you are a new customer.  You can enter your current Railcard details to ensure your railcard start and end dates are carried forward.

You can also renew your Railcard at a station. You'll need to complete the application form, and take your existing Railcard, which will automatically be accepted as proof of age.

To renew by phone, just call 08457 48 49 50 and ask for your nearest Train Company's telesales number (calls are charged at a local rate and may be recorded).

You can only renew your 3-year Railcards online.


3. How do I renew my Railcard online?

If you haven't bought a Railcard online before:
You will be treated as a new customer. Just click on “Buy Senior Railcard now” to buy a Railcard.

Then, simply follow the onscreen instructions.

You will need:

  • a valid  passport or driving licence number to verify your eligibility online

Complete the online application process, and once you’ve paid online you will get an email confirmation from us, together with acknowledgement of your application number.

Your new Railcard will be processed within one working day and sent free by First Class post.

If you bought your last Railcard online:
Simply go to Renew your Railcard, check your details, and then pay securely (you will still need to enter your credit card details).

As your last Railcard is on the system, you can renew up to 30 days before your current Railcard expires. Your new one will start when your old one expires, making sure you won't miss out on any savings.

Your new Railcard will be processed within one working day and sent free by First Class post. To renew online go to Renew your Railcard.


4. Can I renew my Railcard in advance?

You can renew your Railcard up to 30 days in advance of its expiry date (providing there is no break in continuity) online, at a station ticket office or over the phone.

If you're buying online for the first time, you can enter the expiry date of your station bought Railcard and your new online card will be valid from the day your station bought card expires.
